Your website content is what attracts your visitors to you and should be focused on your website goals and target market. There are a few things to keep in mind when putting together your website information:

First impressions count, so make your page titles stand out. You want to encourage your website visitor to read on…
Keep your language simple, clear and very concise. Your visitors have a very short attention span when viewing your website, so make it as easy as possible for them to take in the information you want to convey.
To optimise your website for search engines, think about what likely keywords people will use when searching for your website and use them in your page content. This process is often referred to when considering Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) for your website.
Keep your content up-to-date and add to it on a regular basis. This attracts repeat visitors to your website and increases your visitors from search engines.
If you are putting large amounts of text on a page, consider breaking it up with pictures, videos or other forms of media that will add interest to your content.
Issue a call to action on every page. For example, you may tell your visitor that to access further information, they should contact you or add a link to your contact or payments page.

Your domain name is your own unique internet address. The ideal scenario for your domain name is one that is short, memorable, easy to spell and the same as your business name or a keyword that is related to your business.

Testing whether or not a domain name has already been registered is simple: type the address into your web browser address bar. Your web browser will either display a website or an error message telling you that the website could not be found.

Australian businesses are able to register an Australian domain name (i.e. a domain name that ends in .au) by providing their ABN. If your website is for your Australian business, you should consider registering an Australian domain name. It is slightly more expensive than an international domain ($39.90 for an international domain per two years, compared with $44.90 for an Australian domain) but your domain name tells the user that not only are you located in Australia but you are a registered Australian business offering instant credibility to your website.

Organising your website carefully at the beginning will save a great amount of time and frustration later on. To do this, break down your website content into categories and put all related information in these categories. Back in Business

Some of you may already know that Steve and I were recently blessed with the most wonderful news: we are expecting our first child! Our boy will be joining us sometime mid-February and we are very much looking forward to that!

The last few months however, to say the very least, were a complete write-off in regards to pursuing my favourite pass-time (web design) for obvious reasons! I had unfortunately just commenced a complete re-design of my own website all that time ago before I was forced to retire for a while until my health returned. My website visitors over the last few months would have been forgiven for thinking I had abandoned my web design pursuits…

Now that the website is finally complete, I hope that in hindsight it was worth the wait! I am quite pleased with the result and Wordpress has indeed made managing this website MUCH easier. I would be very grateful for your opinion so please feel free to leave a comment (below).
